As the World Blurs By

I’m hoping to dedicate more time to music in 2012. Over the past few months, my basement has gradually morphed into a makeshift studio as I’ve inherited my dad’s Yamaha electronic piano and added a better MIDI controller, an Alesis iPad dock, and a few new software synths over the past few weeks.

With the little time off I have, I’m finally dedicating some time to learning FL Studio and developing tracks using fewer loops and more of my own MIDI-based sounds. Here’s my first stab at playing around with them. (Sorry for the brevity, but it takes me about two hours to put something like this together. I hope to flesh it out into a full-fledged piece in the next couple of weeks.)

For the music geeks: The intro synth sound comes from the Animoog synth on my iPad. The beat is generated using the pattern machine in FLStudio, and the arpeggiated synth is a pattern created by me using the MIDI keyboard controller with the Toxic Biohazard synth.
